Local Old Blackburn Football Stadium Picture

The picture is how our local Blackburn Rovers football stadium (only a couple of miles from us in Darwen) looked like, circa 1900 turn of the century, when trams were still used in neighbouring Blackburn (the stadium has been revamped many times since).

The wooden frame is coated with a decorative black marble effect finish. Hand signed by its listed local Lancashire artist Tom Riley. Circa 1980s. Size 37cm x 32cm.

Local Wigan Pictures

Local Wigan Pictures, Memorabilia Signed by Prime Ministers and 1948 Memorabilia.

This totally bespoke picture shows an iconic local scene of Makerfield, Wigan in 1948 and 3 signed Prime Ministers memorabilia.

The signed memorabilia by 3 different Prime Ministers shown in this picture, are all official re-prints.

Winston Churchill is the famous World War II PM (1948 letter) and Rishi Sunak (10 Downing Street letter) is the first non-white UK PM (from an India heritage); they were both previous Conservative Prime Ministers.
Andy Burnham (part shown photograph) is the first ever UK PM to set up a major government Cabinet Office and secondary headquarters in England, outside of London (in Manchester and called No.10 North), he is a Labour Prime Minister and a local Labour MP of Makerfield, Wigan, near us in Greater Manchester.

There is also an original 1948 postcard of Makerfield, showing the Golden Lion pub (the historic white building on the left), when Makerfield was still in Lancashire. The photograph immediately to the right of the postcard, at the bottom of the framed picture is only half displayed as we do not politicize this website by showing any pictures of any current politicians.

Next is a Mesnes Park painting....

The picture is an original watercolour painting of the iconic 1878 Victorian Cafe, which is a Grade II listed building, at Mesnes (pronounced "Mains") Park in Wigan, Greater Manchester.
It was painted, signed and dated 2011 by a local unlisted artist and is bespokely presented in a vintage silver frame. Size 56cm x 46cm.

The Mesnes Park picture is supplemented by our August 2025 picture of it, which was originally photographed and then printed by us. Size 33cm x 24cm.

Local Historic Drawing Pictures

This old drawing dated 1981 is of Churchtown in Lancashire, a charming old historic village about 2 miles north of our North West popular seaside resort Southport.

It shows the popular historic Bold Arms Pub and Hotel on the right and on the left is Claude's Patisserie a french cafe and bakery which is now replaced by the Botanic Road Kitchen, a popular tapas bar and restaurant. The limited print drawing (176/500) is hand signed by a local unlisted artist from the Southport area. Size 63.5cm x 48cm.

Next is a vintage charcoal drawing print, hand signed by listed artist David Nicholson. The rare wooden bespoke frame uniquely, and perfectly matches the picture.

Showing the previous local railway station at Great Harwood, Lancashire opened in 1877 and closed in 1957 for regular passenger trains, and closed completely in1964. (It had opened yearly for the town's Wakes Week summer holidays and for day excursions, typically to the seaside until 1963). Size 48cm x 40cm.

Oil Painting by our Local Female Artist J. Palmer

A rare and original 1970s oil painting signed by the English female listed artist J. Palmer (Jean Palmer). Recently known for tutoring and her tutors at her famous Palmer Art Classes in Lancashire; particularly in Lancaster, Preston and Morecambe (she has a long, well-established school called Palmer Art Classes in Lancaster).

This particular vintage painting features her beautiful still life artwork of a vase full of colourful and vibrant flowers, which is characterised by her raised textured palette knifed painted work.

Local famous painter artwork

Picture of a large official print in monochrome blue, of a painting called "A Time for Roses" by Charles Haigh-Wood (1856 - 1927), who was from nearby Bury in Greater Manchester and was a highly popular and successful British painter of the late Victorian and Edwardian eras.
The cool blue toning notably creates a more sense of peace, melancholy, quiet, calm and also older times (the original painting was in full colour).

The artist had lifelong connections to our North West region and included paintings of regional leaders, including two different mayors of his birthplace town Bury.
